Chanel, a 21-year-old dachshund who is believed to have been the world’s oldest dog, has died in Port Jefferson, N.Y., Newsday reports.

The newspaper quotes Chanel’s owner, Denice Shaughnessy, as saying the small pooch died on Friday.

“She just inhaled and took her last breath,” Shaughnessy says. “Chanel had been telling me it’s time.”

Newsday says Chanel wore sunglasses for her cataracts and rode in a stroller when she could no longer walk.

The Guinness Book of World Records said earlier this year that Chanel was the oldest dog in the world, the paper reports.
