I used to be a show horse, but no one cared when my back started hurting; I did the best I could but it was too much, and I was thrown away to slaughter. Belle

I am Belle, a very likable Welsh/QH cross mare, saved by Rosemary Farm (NY) after my family sent me to auction. After 14 years of being friends. Go figure. I am being re-trained to ride and hope that my gentle manners and beautiful long strides win the heart of a new friend! Are you my new family?”

Lilly & Jasper John

Our mule pair, Lilly and Jasper John, saved from slaughter a short time ago, are beautiful bay mules from Kentucky. Jasper was used for pulling and was clearly beaten, so his trust is still in progress. Lilly wasn’t trained at all, so she is quite friendly and a beautiful girl, with red highlights in her mane. Both are currently undergoing training at Dan McCarthy’s; a private home with lots more individual time would really benefit this pair of intelligent and sweet mules! Sound and young, they are diamonds in the rough. Please consider them!

Fred & America

Fred and America, both available for adoption. Fred is an OTTB and former police horse! Tall dark handsome and super sweet, about 17 years old and 16.2 HH, Fred is the closest to bomb proof that you can get. Fred has some medical restraints and needs so he will only go to the perfect home. He is sound for light riding.
America is a former show horse, rescued from the kill pens a few months ago, and has been in recovery here at the farm. She shows some back damage from hard riding and ill-fitting saddles, a classic ‘used up and thrown away’ teenage horse. Breathtaking and sweet, she is currently in re-training, and could use a loving and patient home to bring her back. America is about 15 years old and about 16 HH.

Annabelle & Aggie (JoJo)

Aggie (JoJo) is now 10 months old and stabilized. She and her sister were owner surrenders several months ago, and this little one was very sick and scared of people. What a change now (I can hear her whinnying for breakfast while I type this). She will need a lot of tlc to continue her growth and training! She is currently only available for adoption with her sister AnnaBelle.

Annabelle, a beautiful two year old chestnut QH mare, will probably be smaller like her sister from lack of early care and feeding. But a nicer, sweeter horse you could not ask! Annabelle is two years old, but is currently only available for adoption with her little sister, who still relies on her. Please consider taking these sisters home and loving them, they will reward you tenfold when they mature into beautiful members of your family.

Remy

Remy is a classic palomino dun western trail horse, in his teens, who had been used up and thrown away. We rescued him from the kill pens in March, and he has spent several months in recovery at the farm. Finally fat and happy, Remy has found his swagger again! He would be a great trail horse for a rider with a little experience, someone who wants to ride out with others and take long easy afternoon trips. Quite a character is Remington, adores attention, wants to be your horse.

The Phantom

The Phantom is available for adoption! Gorgeous flea-bitten big boned grey that we saved from slaughter a few months ago. He has been getting work at his foster home and seems to be a great husband trail horse. Phantom is a teen, over 16 HH, and blind in one eye; the blindness doesn’t affect his riding abilities. Phantom can be cinchy but once you move out he is great. What a beauty and what great height! You will love The Phantom.

Belle is a gorgeous and sweet Welsh/QH cross mare that we saved from slaughter a few months ago. Belle is 14 and lived her whole life with one family before being sent to auction. Scared and alone, she put on quite a show that drove off buyers, but we saw her ears perk up at a little girl, and her eyes follow her, and knew that this used to be a loved horse. Turns out Belle was trained to ride and drive when she was young, but then was left out at pasture for 9 years, so she doesn’t have the physical wear of some teenage horses. Beautiful extended trot on this girl, good head, willing learner, super nice horse. Belle is currently being re-trained to ride; come and meet her!
