Cruel calls upset missing dog’s owners

Looking for a missing dog has opened up a new world for Shirley Ancer and Janet Franks.
Although there are many wonderful people out there, there are very cruel ones too, they say.
Ancer and Franks lost their pet labrador, Libby, when she ran away through an unlocked gate in their Observatory home. The distraught family put out hundreds of flyers and posters.
“The calls we got were unbelievable. I got calls from Yeoville and Orange Farm asking for money in exchange for the dog.
We got a call from someone who said he had Libby with her in Cyrildene, and when we arrived there, it was a building construction site.
“We are already in distress, and this is upsetting us even further,” Ancer said.
“Looking for Libby has opened a new insight into how people behave. There are many helpful people, but more sick ones,” Frank said.
Both Ancer and Frank tell of horror stories of people lying about having the dog.
